I am a professional seamstress by trade and have my degree in Fashion Design from FIDM. I've worked in the apparel industry for a number of years. After pausing to build a family, I now teach sewing and fine arts to kids and adults. I teach semester based classes to San Diego’s homeschool community through Homeschool Enrichment Centers. I also teach beginner friendly sewing workshops at Craft on Third in downtown Chula Vista every Thursday evenings. I absolutely love what I do! I have the opportunity to offer a creative space for students to explore and discover through sewing, mixed media, and fine arts. I feel it’s so important for children to have a quality creative outlet (and adults alike) in this tech driven world.
I hold beginner friendly sewing workshops every Thursday evening at Craft on Third in downtown Chula Vista. I provide all the materials and we work on easy-to-use sewing machines. We do a variety of sewing projects, ranging from kid friendly, to teen friendly, to adult projects. You can check out my Instagram account, @sew.it.begins_sd to see all current events. You can also visit www.craftonthird.com and look under Scheduled Workshops to see all the upcoming class projects.
Calling all fellow thrift store lovers! In this class, students choose thrifted items and then they repurpose/combine/flip the items into something they treasure! Some general ideas would be spray paint glassware, repurpose candy dishes into candles, hand paint mirrors, flip placemats into purses, transform old jewelry boxes into fairy dioramas, etc. This class is an exercise in creativity, problem solving, resourcefulness, and frugality.

This is a super fun class where we use the Cricut Maker machine to create all sorts of fun and useful items. I will provide all materials, but I can also personalize anything from home they want to bring. Some projects ideas would be intricate paper lanterns, personalize literally anything, amazing bunting banners, adorable customized glassware, unique and quality stickers, one of a kind stationary, and so SO much more!

Some general ideas could be body armor, doll houses, giant cardboard costume heads, rubber band guns, or even Minecraft swords. I am open all student's ideas!
